Daily Meditation for October 17, 2022

“Children, let us love not in word or speech but in deed and truth” (1 John 3:18). Do you ever feel that you want to be a better person, yet you’re at a loss about how to achieve that? Want someone to tell you how? God understands. Jesus has told us that God is our parent, a parent who wants the best for every child. When John addresses his readers as “children,” God is speaking through John and giving us the advice we need to become better people. Because God knows and loves us, the advice is simple. We aren’t asked to come up with complex definitions of what “good” means, only to do what we know is right. Simple advice from a loving parent, who makes sure every day that the opportunity for doing something good will present itself. All we have to do is keep our eyes open for opportunities and be ready to act!
