Prayer: We tend to make prayer lofty and mysterious and beyond our ability. We don’t need to be in church using fancy words, nor to judge whether our prayer is good enough to deserve God’s attention and answer. What we need to pray is simple while not always easy. We need to believe that God knows and cares about us and about what we pray about. We need to trust that God loves and forgives us and desires a relationship with us. We need confidence that we are worthy of all God wants to do in us and in our daily lives. We need to not take God or ourselves too seriously, allowing our humanity to mix with God’s understanding and humor. And finally, we need quiet time with God and gratitude for God’s loving presence with us. This is all simple, not easy, and possible with God’s loving help.
