Daily Meditation for December 25, 2023

Father Brennan Manning, OSF, tells a story about a few salesmen who ended their day having a few drinks together, and suddenly realizing they were late for the train. Rushing to catch the train, one of them bumped into a 10-year-old blind boy who was selling apples. All the apples fell to the ground. The men simply rushed past him except for one, who stopped and gathered up the apples for the boy. Noticing that some of the apples were bruised, the man reached into his pocket, took out a $5 bill, and put it into the boy’s hand, apologizing for the damage they had done. Being assured that the boy was okay, he walked away. He then heard the boy calling out to him, “Sir! Sir! Are you Jesus?” On this Christmas Day, may the presence of Jesus be more visible because of our loving and caring interactions with others.
