Daily Meditation for May 8, 2026
Abraham Lincoln has been quoted as saying, “All that I am or ever hope to be, I owe to my angel mother.” Looking back on our lives, many of us remember our mothers as “angels” or at least as our first teacher, the source of our self-confidence, and the one who carried us through many difficult times in our lives. Mothers often serve as healers of wounded knees and wounded hearts. Besides our birth mothers, many of us have experienced the care of another motherly person in our lives – perhaps a grandmother, a neighbor, an aunt, a foster mother or a family friend. Or perhaps we have been called to serve another in a motherly way. This coming Sunday we will celebrate Mother’s Day. Many countries in our world have a special time for celebrating motherhood. It is a time to express our appreciation to our mothers and to all those who have mothered us in any way.
