Daily Meditation for February 23, 2026

Expect each day to contain surprises! That is something of a risk-taking posture in the life of a Christian. Thinking about risk-taking recalls the picture of a young child on the edge of a swimming pool being coaxed by her father to jump in. The little one is shivering with both cold and fear; yet she jumps. She jumps not into the water she fears, but into the arms of one who loves her unconditionally. Are we not also called to trust the Presence of the Holy One in much the same way as the child recognizes and trusts the safety of her father’s arms? The surprises of each day may invite us to risk something easy, or they may entice us to stand in solidarity with a cause or a need of our neighbor. It may call us to an action we have never taken before. Are you ready to risk everything? Am I?
