Daily Meditation for March 8, 2024

The image of God as the potter and we the clay is a frequent theme in Scripture. The prophet Isaiah prays, “Now, O Lord, You are our Father; we are the clay, and You our potter; and we all are the work of Your hand” (Isaiah 64:8). During Lent, we can use this symbol to think about how God shapes and reshapes our lives. This prayer helps us to visualize how daily events can be God’s tools to shape us into the work of his hands.

Bowl Prayer:

Help me, loving God, to dump out that which sours me, can hurt somebody, has stuck too long — like leftovers from time past.  Let me pour out small kindnesses for another, sweet helpfulness, good words that bless. Fill me, Holy One, with plentiful gifts of grace, ideas for caring, nourishment of your love.

Sustain in me all that pleases you and keeps me faithful. Thank You for holding my life in your hands.
