Daily Meditation for March 6, 2025

The days are longer and warmer as the Northern Hemisphere tilts closer to the sun once again. I see people pausing, looking upwards, soaking in the light and warmth, and lingering just a bit longer before going back inside during my daily walk in the neighborhood. I, too, feel drawn towards the sun that gives our Earth life. I feel a small spark of joy as I bask in the light and feel the warmth on my face. Just as the Earth tilts more toward the sun, we are called to lean into God. The prophet Joel proclaimed in the reading on Ash Wednesday, “Even now, says the Lord, return to me with your whole heart.” God’s care guides our return from spiritual coldness into the warmth of an expansive heart that sees God in strangers, enemies and friends. Tilting and returning—a dance of love for this Lenten season!
