Daily Meditation for January 23, 2025

“Show me a hero and I’ll write you a tragedy,” a quote by F. Scott Fitzerald, can be interpreted in various ways. One interpretation is that our tragedies call out the hero inside each of us and make us who we are. Life is full of challenges, and unfortunately, no one is exempt. Only by the grace of God can we move forward with whatever life throws our way, trusting that we will emerge on the other side, stronger and wiser than we were before. God never said we would be without pain and suffering, but God did promise to be with us always. We look to Christ as our example, who in the midst of his journey to the cross, never backed down or gave in to temptation. Tragedies are not our end. They are not what define us but are the means of calling us to something greater.
