Daily Meditation for March 2, 2026
Scripture readings for today quote the prophet Daniel and the evangelist Luke. Their message is similar: we are all sinners. Both men acknowledge guilt before God, and a need for His forgiveness. Daniel reflects on the transgressions of Israel, which have resulted in decades of exile. He sees this as just punishment and pleads for mercy. In like manner, Luke acknowledges the human inclination to judge others as being guilty of transgressions rather than to confront our own failings. We are often harsh towards others while excusing ourselves. Luke reminds us that we should not judge others nor condemn them; we must forgive as we plead to be forgiven. Acting generously, we can then hope to receive like treatment—from both God and fellow humans. This does not mean ignoring evil around us; however, we allow for human failings and are willing to forgive.
