Daily Meditation for January 15, 2026

At the Name of Jesus … the festivities of the Christmas celebration may seem to be a bit removed from our memories as we move into the later part of the month. One aspect of those days that may have faded is the name of Jesus. We hear from the angel in Joseph’s dream that Mary’s baby is to be named Jesus, the name that will save people from their sins. Matthew 18:20 again makes note of the importance of the name when we hear Jesus saying, “Where two or three are gathered in my name, there I am in the midst of them.” St. Paul, in Philippians 2:10, emphasizes the sacredness of the name when he says, “At the name of Jesus, every knee shall bend…” With these powerful statements, may all Christian people take a moment to reflect on the reverence owed that sacred name and use it with love and devotion.
