Daily Meditation for January 1, 2026
The night wind asked the little lamb: “Do you see what I see?” The little lamb, in turn, asked the shepherd boy: “Do you hear what I hear?” Off to the mighty king, the shepherd boy goes to ask yet another question: “Do you know what I know?”
These questions all point to the same answer. The star, the song and the child shivering in the cold — this is the Christ whose birth we celebrate, the One who brings us “goodness and light.” And Christ turns these questions back to us: “Do you see what God sees? And hear what God hears? And know what God knows?”
Can we look at all God has created — the stars and trees and seas, and all people — and know how precious they are to God? How precious they should be to us? Indeed, “Pray for peace, people, everywhere.” But also, for the love of God, share God’s goodness and light.
