Daily Meditation for November 21, 2025
Writer Kurt Vonnegut once said that the only proof he needed for the existence of God was music. Maya Angelou spoke of music as her refuge — a way of turning her back to loneliness. Longfellow described music as the “universal language of humankind.” Music can change your mood, speed your recovery, enhance your prayer. Persons suffering from dementia can often recall all the words of a song learned long ago. Good news is sometimes described as “music to our ears.” Tomorrow we celebrate the patron saint of musicians, St. Cecelia, who sang her praise to God as she lay dying a martyr’s death. In honor of St. Cecelia, take a moment today to listen to music or sing a song of your own. After all, he or she who sings prays twice!
