Daily News

My blog today is about MPR. I am so disgusted that Trump has decided to cut national funds to MPR. However, I am equally delighted that the Friends of MPR are funding it without his sanctions. I want to giggle and say, “See, we can outsmart you, too!”

I love MPR for the wonderfully interesting programs I listen to almost every day. The staff can call on so many experts and friends that make it worth listening because I know I am getting the right scoop!

Angela Davis is one of my favorites because her programs are usually about people, life and everyday problems, or also how our state is changing. She brings in so many truly capable people to add their ideas and research. Besides this, she is really good at reminding listeners to call in and add their voices. I love this aspect because I think we are all part of this ever-changing community, and we need to keep doing our part. Another favorite is Minnesota Today, a radio newscast from MPR News with stories from around the state and world. This occurs continually through the broadcast. And then, besides that, there are programs such as Politics Friday, which is a weekly update from the Minnesota Public Radio newsroom staff covering politics in Minnesota. I want to know what is happening and this feature gives me first-hand access.

Actually, I go to sleep with MPR playing, continuing throughout the night. I use it as “white noise,” I suppose, but it is wonderful when I wake up in the middle of the night and can listen to whatever program might be airing at that time. This way, I also have no need for an alarm because I can hear what time it is when I wake up and can figure out how long my nap(s) will be before I get up.

Of course, I cannot forget that MPR also offers music for almost everyone’s needs, likes and favorites. I often listen to classical music if I need some relaxation time, but I also like the daily choices made by the broadcasters or current choices of the listening audiences. Here, again, I like to know about new hits, and this is my way of finding out what they are.

Because I could go on and on, I will stop here, since I think you have caught my drift: I love MPR!
