Daily Meditation for September 1, 2026

Even as people of faith, who believe in God and God’s love, some days it’s tough just to keep that faith going.  Some days, when faced with the suffering and injustice in ourselves or others, we question where God is in the midst of it all. On dark days, we are called to remind ourselves that in challenging times we don’t need more faith, we need to know we have enough for the present moment. God will bring us the faith for all the moments after this present challenge. Author Flannery O’Connor tells us, “Keep your mind open, keep wanting faith, keep asking for it, and leave the rest to God.” Our best prayer may be simply asking God to take over, to shoulder the load until our strength returns. Then, we must get out of the way, trust God to act, and remember that God’s faith in us will restore our faith in God.
