Daily Meditation for January 6, 2026

A new year brings anticipation and possibilities — albeit alongside some worries and fears. Mostly, people tend to have high hopes, envisioning another chance and time to begin afresh. However, instead of a focusing on traditional New Year’s resolutions, one could consider some unusual “national” resolutions. For example, there is National Cut Your Energy Costs Day, set for January 10. Then comes National Clear Off Your Desk Day on January 12. Both seem worthwhile endeavors. But the national focus/concern for January 11 is more far-reaching and difficult: National Human Trafficking Awareness Day. We are only two weeks removed from the Christmas celebration of our God taking on human flesh; yet there are thousands of humans whose flesh is desecrated and harmed in many ways — people needing our prayers and civic efforts. Human trafficking is unabated, worldwide, and what better time to combat it than now — in the name of Jesus who sanctifies all flesh.
