Daily Meditation for December 25, 2025
We have once again welcomed a Christmas into our home and heart. With it, we focus on an infant — one who is both divine and human. The human aspect of Christ is what we primarily see and probably most love at this season. And why not? For the baby Jesus reaffirms the innate goodness and possibilities of our humanity. The priest and author Richard Rohr has written: “History tells of too many people who have tried to be spiritual before they have learned how to be human! It is a major problem. Maybe that is why Jesus came to model humanity for us — much more than divinity.” What a comforting thought! Our humanity is not an inevitable barrier to a rich spiritual life; rather it is a stepping stone. Our humanity appealed to Jesus, and His humanity appeals to us — and therein lies the path to a true, deep spirituality.
