Daily Meditation for December 22, 2025
“Look, Mom, a Lego Transformer; can I have it?” Such petitioning happens when parents shop with children. The parents are generally attentive and show interest in what the child is wanting, though often they do not place the item in the shopping cart. Perhaps they are making a mental note to return to the store to purchase the item when the child is not along. It might become a surprise gift for Christmas or the child’s birthday. The important point is that the parent is listening, though not immediately satisfying the child’s pleading. God is a parent, too. He does not squelch petitions or brush them aside; God hears our requests and understands our longings. If the Holy One does not immediately satisfy our petitions, we need not lose hope. We may later receive an answer we never anticipated! God is full of surprise responses, just like Mom and Dad.
