Daily Meditation for December 10, 2025
Hildegard of Bingen lived in the 11th century and entered a Benedictine monastery at age 8, which was not uncommon in those days. She became learned in a variety of areas; she was gifted with an astute mind and unquenchable energy. At age 43, she began writing on such varied topics as history, poetry, politics, drama, medicine and liturgical song. Her knowledge of herbal medicines is being researched today. Her unique musical arrangements are being sung all over the world in small and large groups and are a source of religious inspiration to those who listen carefully. They are used today for much needed spiritual refreshment of the soul. At age 60, Hildegard led a much needed church reform of the times and is patron of those desiring transformation. May she also guide our church today and all seeking transformation in their lives.
