Daily Meditation for November 12, 2025

How one sees God matters. Think back to your childhood. Was God an old man with a long, white beard? Was he jovial and good-natured or angry and displeased? Did the God of your youth have a list, and you visioned this God checking the naughty or nice columns of your life? Your picture of God has likely changed since childhood. John’s Gospel tells us that “God is Love.” Love is a word used in many ways: people love pizzas, new clothes, sunsets, puppies and a zillion other things. Others come to know God’s love by walking in nature. Many experience God in faith communities. Our notion of God changes when we realize that around us are gifts to enjoy from One whose greatest desire is our happiness. Believing that the Creator is a Being who Loves us, just as we are: that’s a thought worth pondering!
