Daily Meditation for October 22, 2025
“Be still and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10). Autumn brings a stillness that speaks volumes as it caresses our senses. Bright blazes of color bless our vision as the leaves take on their fall splendor, while there’s a different smell to the air, carrying a hint of nostalgia. The brilliant colors shout out God’s glory, yet the feel of the days suggests an ending. Autumn brings us contrasts that help us to sense the divine mystery surrounding us, especially when we are still. Yes, the year is coming to its fullness, but we’re also being prepared for the stark season of winter when the world seems to sleep. It’s a moment to be still and know that God is God. Just as the seasons move softly one into other, so God moves softly in our lives, sharing glory, sharing peace, and always the promise of spring and resurrection.
