Empty Bowls: A Gathering of Hope • Saturday, October 11
The public is invited to join the monastic community for Empty Bowls: A Gathering of Hope, on Saturday, October 11. This community event will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at The House Food and Tap in St. Joseph, Minn. All proceeds will benefit the St. Joseph Food Shelf. Join us to marvel over local pottery, enjoy delicious soup, and share hope with one another.
What is an Empty Bowls celebration?
Attendees have the opportunity to “purchase” a bowl handcrafted by local potters and artists, which they can use to enjoy a shared meal of delicious soups. There are no set prices; attendees are asked to donate what they can. All proceeds will go to the St. Joseph Food Shelf to help those who are hungry right in our community.
Want to get involved?
The public is also invited to donate handmade bowls to be used at the event. The bowls should be in good condition and can be dropped off at the monastery’s Gathering Place. Organizations or individuals interested in getting involved can contact Elizabeth Reum, director of social justice ministries, at ereum001@csbsju.edu or 320-471-8450.
