Daily Meditation for May 8, 2024

“In God’s great mercy we have been given a new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead” (1 Peter 1:3). This is the season of Eastertide when we are given the opportunity to live through a period of 50 days wondering at the gift that the Resurrection has brought us. It’s also a time when we are asked to prepare for living out that gift throughout the coming year. At the end of the 50 days is Pentecost, celebrated this year on May 19. In the days leading up to the feast, let’s spend time each day reflecting on how the coming of the Holy Spirit is the ongoing gift of the Risen Christ. It is the Spirit who helps us to experience the living hope which Christ has promised, the Spirit who brings wisdom into the world. May we open ourselves to become channels of that wisdom.
