Daily Meditation for March 28, 2024

Today many Christian churches will focus on the call to service, as we remember and celebrate the supper at which Jesus knelt to wash the feet of his apostles. He washed the feet of Peter who, in a few hours, would deny knowing him as well as the feet of Judas who betrayed him. He also washed the feet of those who later fled from him in his time of need. He wasn’t concerned as to whether their feet were beautiful or ugly, whether they had perfect arches or bunions, whether they were the feet of Jew or Gentile, fisherman or tax collector. He simply wanted them to know their dignity as human beings and wanted them to honor the dignity of one another by mutual works of service. Washing another’s feet takes many different forms. What will your service to another look like today?
