Daily Meditation for November 3, 2026

In St. Luke’s Gospel, Jesus tells a parable about a man who planned a splendid banquet for his son’s marriage. The man is clearly very rich, and one could thus expect a sumptuous meal in a fine setting. However, invited guests seem reluctant to attend. This is quite curious: who would turn down such an invitation? Whatever the reason, the invitees don’t show up and the rich man resorts to inviting anyone and everyone to fill their spots. Since God is the ultimate banquet- giver, the invitation is for us to come and share in His bounty, his generosity. Moreover, the invitation is all-inclusive-all are welcome. Our response should be one of grateful acceptance of this invitation and a willingness to put the invitation above other concerns. But we are free to accept or refuse God’s graces. We must hunger for the divine feast.
