Daily Meditation for October 13, 2026
Every October I think of Psalm 65 because my husband and I chose that psalm for our October wedding forty years ago. Verses 9 and 10 proclaim: The lands of sunrise and sunset you fill with your joy for you visit the earth, give it water and fill it with riches. Throughout the spring and summer, deciduous trees soaked in the rain and sunlight and absorbed carbon dioxide that human beings exhale. In return, they gift us with the oxygen we need to breathe. God’s visitation flows through our beloved trees bestowing abundant riches. Now, these deciduous trees create a feast for our eyes as their leaves turn from green to vibrant yellow, orange and red. Leaves become glorious in our sight before letting go and falling to the ground. So as these trees end their season in all their splendor, let us join with them to “shout and sing together for joy”!
