Daily Meditation for May 20, 2026
An advantage of living in a climate with four seasons, one of them winter, is that we don’t have to simply believe in the possibility of rebirth. We see it all around us every spring, when trees that look brittle and bare, and grass that is dry and brown suddenly spring to life at the first encouragement of the sun. Leaves and grass are, once again, an exuberant green. The world is reborn! Sometimes our human spirits also seem dead, buried under the cold weight of grief and tragedy, in our personal lives or in the life of our world. At times like these, the promise of rebirth can seem like a cruel joke. Then one day, hope stirs in our hearts or in the heart of a community or country. One day, quite unexpectedly, we wake up and know that we are alive again, and glad to be alive again, able to love and help others find new life.
