Daily Meditation for May 13, 2026

“What day is it?” asked Pooh.

“It’s today,” squeaked Piglet.

“My favorite day,” said Pooh.1

Yes, but. . . . Sometimes our list of negative reasons discredits today as being our favorite. It’s too hot. I have a headache. No trip for me; it will take too long. I’m in the middle of a disagreement with my daughter.

What is required for a day to be our favorite or a good day? We tend to look for what feels comfortable, punctuated with pleasant events, and marked with no inconveniences, pain, and disruptions. What about the growth in perseverance and patience when working through a challenging project? Wisdom that can develop from failure and struggling through a personal issue? Improvement of a worrisome situation through collaboration among neighbors? Good days, right? So make today a good day. God has assured us: “This is the day the Lord has made. . ..”2
