“One man’s junk is another man’s treasure” is an oft repeated statement.  And so, each spring we begin the task of cleaning drawers, closets, shelves, and other storage areas.  How many pair of shoes does one need? How many pair of pants or how many jackets?  Such questions some of us ponder during spring housecleaning.  And then there is the storage within oneself that also needs work.  What junk have I clung to; what habits or behaviors clog my thoughts; what baggage do I need to let go of to have a clearer view of who I am and who God is in my life?  Are there windows that need cleaning that I might see more clearly the love that God has for me and for my neighbors?   Are there some destructive relationships that crowd out the ones that really matter?  Such questions might lead to grabbing a mop or a window scraper and beginning the work of spring cleaning the house of one’s being.

“God of infinite space, you permeate the universe and nothing is too much for you. Yet somehow you knew that the gift of limits would be one of the greatest blessings of our human life, if we let it. What should we hold in mind? What should we let go? How can we expand not to just get more stuff, but to host more of you? Give us guidance, Sweet Wisdom, we pray.”
