Daily Meditation for April 23, 2026

We all recognize the April “rite of passage”—spring cleaning. While going through this annual exercise—examining every shelf and closet, deciding what to keep and what to discard—we should also take time to reflect on the parallels between spiritual spring cleaning and this process of putting a house in order. We look in places we don’t notice in our busy daily lives, and we bring out for scrutiny those things whose value seems questionable. We slow down, examine carefully, evaluate potential and restore order. By banishing distractions and making room for intentional time with God, we enjoy the satisfaction of knowing our spiritual life is once again in order, at least for the time being. It’s as refreshing as throwing open all the windows on that first warm spring day. Surely God will reward our renewed commitment and bless our efforts toward spiritual spring cleaning.
