Daily Meditation for April 14, 2026

The Incarnation, Redemption, and Resurrection of Jesus affect all of creation! The God-spark that I recognize and relate to in you, in myself, in orchids, dogs, flower gardens, sunsets, apple trees, and my neighbors—these all share in the mystery of salvation. There is a black squirrel that plays on the pine trees outside my office window. Knowing that this squirrel praises God just by being its playful self brings a sense of gratitude to my heart and a smile to my face. Soon, we will plant seeds in turned soil, waiting for vegetables or flowers. Their beautiful vines, stems, blossoms and fruits praise God just by growing and being themselves. We praise God by tending to these plantings, by caring for our Earth.  It seems we have been invited into a deep relationship with all creation. These are some of the thoughts gleaned from a book by Elizabeth Johnson entitled Come, Have Breakfast.
