Daily Meditation for February 20, 2026
In the long winter months, shorter day hours and longer dark hours are a negative issue for some people. Light may be a gift taken for granted until a time without it becomes an issue. Is it then not a surprise for Jesus to exclaim, “I am the light of the world?” One would hope that people would be drawn to that “Light” like bugs to an outdoor lantern on a patio. Expressions related to light are expressed in many ways. During a dark time in life, one may look for “a ray of light.” When studying a situation or needing help when making a decision, a prayer is offered asking God “to light the way” or to “cast a light on.” Seeking to do God’s will may be expressed in seeking for “a guiding light.” In all these situations we sum our need for this light when we say: The Light of Christ, thanks be to God!
