Daily Meditation for November 4, 2026

Today is the memorial of St. Charles Borromeo, a bishop who lived in Milan during challenging times, much like we face today. St. Charles is known for his unflinching work to renew the Catholic church while also caring for the sick during a plague and providing for the hungry during a time of famine. There’s a common saying that “talk is cheap.” Perhaps you found yourself thinking that very thing if you were inundated by messages from various political parties in this election cycle. In contrast, St. Charles said, “Be sure that you first preach by the way you live.” As we process the election results and encounter people who need our care as the weather gets colder, may we model St. Charles’ dedication to have our actions speak louder than our words.
