Daily Meditation for September 29, 2026

Today we celebrate three of God’s archangels: Michael, Gabriel and Raphael, who are mentioned in the Bible as messengers from God. Angels are always around us and they always have been. Yet in linear human history, some of the earliest written words we know about them came from these ancient Jewish texts. According to these texts, archangels are divine messengers and intermediaries between God and humanity, their presence spans multiple faiths and traditions. There are countless stories of angels assisting humans and sometimes bearing messages from God. We give thanks to God for these divine messengers and protectors. They are often pictured with wings and are spirits that seem to fly quickly when called upon to help someone. “Angels can fly,” said G.K. Chesterton, “because they take themselves lightly.” Today would be a good day for us to lighten up a little and be more angelic. Let’s keep those angels busy helping us.
