Daily Meditation for September 23, 2026

The daylight hours grow shorter and the dark night hours are longer. The harvest is complete and the fresh excitement of a new academic year is a strong force in pushing forward.  We each might want to recapture something of that excitement.  Learning something new! Jesus does address that need to learn something new. In the gospel of Matthew (11:29) all of us who share his yoke are invited to “learn from me for I am meek and humble of heart.” He read, memorized and studied the law and the prophets.  He took time to be alone in prayer with his father and he walked with us in the human condition.  We, who are so privileged with education, learning and advancement, may well need to learn more about the human condition of so many of our brothers and sisters who walk the earth and are nearly invisible to us.
