Daily Meditation for September 15, 2026

What are you experiencing today? Heartache? Suffering? Many of us are agonizing over what our family members are going through or what we ourselves are experiencing, while others feel distraught about the atrocities affecting many people due to war, greed, and disregard for our beloved earth. Today is the Memorial of Our Lady of Sorrows, calling to mind the anguish Mary experienced at the foot of the cross of her son, Jesus. Mary and the other women remained with Jesus, sharing in his suffering as a loving, steady witness. Mary then remained with John and the disciples after the resurrection with compassionate presence. Mary is both a model and constant presence with us when we experience individual and collective distress. As the first reading from Corinthians reminds us, we are all part of Christ’s body: “If one member suffers, all suffer together with it; if one member is honored, all rejoice together with it.”
