Daily Meditation for May 22, 2026

In today’s gospel, Jesus once again reveals himself to the disciples and even eats breakfast with them after his resurrection.  We’ve heard numerous stories recounting how Jesus, the Christ, appeared, fed, and guided the women and disciples through the seven weeks of Easter. As you reflect on the last 50 days, how have you experienced the risen Christ in your life? In today’s gospel, Jesus then dialogues with Peter, asking him three times: “do you love me?” After Peter’s consistent “yes,” Jesus tells Peter to “feed my lambs…tend my sheep…follow me.” Can you hear Jesus asking you that very question? “Do you love me?” As we prepare for the continued coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, what gifts do you want to receive from the Spirit so you can join Peter in a resounding “yes, Lord, I will follow you” by tending your sheep?  Veni Sancte Spiritus — Come Holy Spirit!
