Daily Meditation for March 25, 2026

Within a matter of days, we will be stepping into Holy Week. Yet today’s feast—the Annunciation of the Lord (Luke 1:26-38)—has us counting the months to Christmas! On the surface, the story of the Angel Gabriel’s visit to Mary might seem out of place in Lent: “Hail, Mary, full of grace . . . the Lord is with you . . . you will conceive and bear a son, and you shall name him Jesus.” Mary can’t conceive of the idea! But with Gabriel’s assurance that “nothing is impossible for God,” Mary says yes: “May it be done to me according to your word.” What could be a more noble Lenten task than to realize that this is our story too? By nature of our baptism, we also are full of God’s grace. Every moment of every day is an opportunity to say yes to God’s love being born in us. From the cradle to the cross, all things are possible when Love leads the way. How will you tell the story?
