Daily Meditation for March 23, 2026
I don’t know how you’re doing, but I’ve found myself flagging a bit with my Lenten practices these last few days. I started thinking more about next week’s Triduum liturgies on Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and the Easter Vigil than this fifth week of Lent. But then I remembered what the prophet Joel said to us on Ash Wednesday: “return to me with your whole heart.” Ah – remember and return. Isn’t it interesting that the prefix “re” means “back” or “again!” The God who has unending love for us appears in our language, inviting us back again and again. What’s my response? God, restore my desire and strengthen my resolve to seek you in these final Lenten days. May I renew my commitment and regain momentum for prayer, fasting and almsgiving. Help me remain close to you so that the way I relate with others expresses your love. May these practices reflect my responsibility to see you, God, in everyone I encounter this day.
