Daily Meditation for March 13, 2026

For centuries, the Church concentrated on Lent as a season for penitence and fasting. In recent years, there has been a move to regard Lent in a more upbeat way, by doing something positive to make a difference in people’s lives and using it as a time to show God’s love active in the world. Right now, the world is seeming like a dark place, and it can be hard to believe that what we do can make a difference. Maybe this year we need to look at both the dark and light messages of Lent. Name the things that are causing you sorrow and anguish right now. Ask God to help you to see that your sadness connects you with all the people in the world who are suffering. Feel their pain and allow yourself to become a channel for the Spirit’s love to enter and bless the world.
