Daily Meditation for March 9, 2026

As we begin this third week of Lent, we hear the story of the Samaritan Woman at the well. Jesus, a Jew, asks her for a drink of water. Jesus goes beyond the boundaries and is open to receiving a drink from her. In their long encounter, she opens herself to Jesus, and he tells her he is the Messiah. As a result, many came to believe in him. Today we are challenged to go beyond the boundaries which we often set up with people of other races and creeds. Today, reach out to someone who you usually don’t talk to or connect with. This may be someone in your family or in your neighborhood. Make an effort to understand their point of view and accept them as a person who is on the journey to God walking beside you. Lent is a time for new growth.
