Daily Meditation for February 24, 2026
The trunks and branches of maples, oaks, birches, and elms stand as stark architecture against the cloud-filled skies during this dormant time of winter. It can seem as if nothing is happening, yet we know that hidden from sight are various root systems absorbing water and nutrients. Today’s 1st reading from Isaiah reminds us that this generative cycle is for us humans, too. Isaiah says that as the rain and snow come down from heaven to water the earth and bring forth seeds and sprouts, so too, shall God’s Word nourish us. We take God’s Word into our minds and spirits like the trees take in water through their roots. God’s Word can guide and strengthen our Lenten practices in the coming weeks. So how is God’s Word speaking to you now in this first full week of Lent? What might be hidden, yet active, that will more fully reveal itself at Easter?
