Daily Meditation for February 5, 2026
Berthold Brecht was a German writer who was exiled for speaking against the Nazi regime. In one of his poems, he asks, “Will there also be singing in the dark times?” The answer: “Yes, there will be singing. About the dark times.” We are living in dark times, and the darkness wants to silence our voices raised in protest against fear, falsehoods, and violence. In these dark times, we must still sing and pray and raise our voices to affirm the values and actions we hold dear: courage, truth-telling, solidarity with all our sisters and brothers, non-violent resistance. We must claim the freedom to sing and pray and speak, for this is the bedrock on which all other freedoms rest.
