Daily Meditation for February 3, 2026
Today’s Gospel shares two miracles Jesus performed that are both lifegiving. Jairus’ daughter is rescued from death and the woman cured of a blood disorder. In both cases, great faith is demonstrated by the two petitioners — who have no doubt that Jesus can and will assist them. Jesus speaks to both Jairus and the woman. He says, “Your faith has made you whole” and “fear not, only believe.” We are told elsewhere in the Gospels that we should ask for anything in Jesus’ name, and it will be granted. Perhaps we do not recognize when a miracle has occurred? Sometimes the miraculous escapes our notice, because we are fainthearted, lacking full trust in God’s care for us. Jairus and the unnamed woman were anticipating a miracle and were rewarded accordingly. With sufficient faith, we may approach God more confidently, enabling God’s grace to work freely within us.
