Daily Meditation for October 14, 2025

Psalm 36 reminds us of God’s enduring and intimate presence with us as we feast on the abundance of God’s house and drink from the river of God’s delights.

October is harvest time, as we gather apples and squash and farmers combine corn and beans. The leaves are a feast for our eyes as they turn shades of yellow, orange and red. Psalm 65 captures the richness of this season, exclaiming that “the pastures of the wilderness overflow, the hills gird themselves with joy, the meadows clothe themselves with flocks, the valleys deck themselves with grain, they shout and sing together for joy.”

As we feast on God’s abundance, let us be mindful of the many people who struggle to put food on the table. May we expand our banquet tables by spreading God’s abundance to all who long to join in the feast.
