Daily Meditation for April 16, 2025

A basketball in your hand is worth about $25. A basketball in Stephen Currey’s hand is worth $240 million. A football in your hand is worth about $20. A football in Patrick Mahomes’ hand is worth about $90 million. A microphone in your hand is worth about $100. A microphone in Taylor Swift’s hand is worth $1.6 billion. Nails in your hands are worth a few dollars. Nails in Jesus’ hands are worth eternal life and everlasting happiness. The worth of an object depends on how it is used. After 40 days of Lent, we have now entered into the holiest of weeks in the liturgical calendar. Let us enter more fully into this journey, knowing that Jesus is ever present in our suffering and pain, our sense of abandonment and confusion, our grief and sorrow. The only way to Resurrection is through the cross. May we take time today to reflect on how Jesus’ surrender and the nails in his hands and feet led to everlasting life.
