Daily Meditation for February 25, 2025

Late February 2025. Christmas is over, the new year seen in, and enough time passed to break our resolutions! Lent, even if not our favorite time of year, has a very definite character, and it doesn’t start till March. But this is the February of the Jubilee Year of Hope proclaimed by Pope Francis. How are we going to honor that? Short, cold, dark February calls us to shine the light of hope in the world, to remember that the Pope didn’t call a day of hope, but a whole year. Every one of those 365 days must be a testament to keeping hope alive in the world. In the face of global darkness, we are called to proclaim in word and action our firm belief that God’s purpose will be fulfilled. How does that happen? In the words of St. Maximilian Kolbe, “[by] placing our trust in Christ’s promises.”
