Daily Meditation for February 13, 2025

During the recent political campaign, one of the candidates frequently disparaged “unmarried cat ladies.” To one of this group, this seems to be a good opportunity to reflect on how God gifts us with animal companions. Friends can come in all shapes and sizes. If you share love with a cat or a dog, your return home each day is cause for a celebration—with happy tail signals and little dances. There are life lessons to be learned from our furry friends, primarily their capacity for unselfish love. They live in the moment. What matters is what they are doing right now, not brooding about what happened yesterday or worrying about next week. They make the best of whatever the situation is. We can be like them and make today a good one! When we get to heaven, I hope the cats and dogs who have shared our lives will be there too, saving us a place.
