Saint Benedict's Monastery in St. Joseph, Minnesota
We invite you to explore this Web site and learn more about the Utah Sisters' new community. It was, in fact, the Sisters of the Order of Saint Benedict who first sent Sisters to Ogden in 1944 in response to a request from city and county officials for Sisters to build and operate St. Benedict's Hospital. All six Sisters remaining in Utah made their original professions with the Sisters of the Order of Saint Benedict.
Over the years, the Sisters' ministry expanded to include parish work, education, chaplaincy and other ministries in addition to health care. In 1994, Mount Benedict Monastery became an independent monastery and built its current facilities. Although no longer autonomous, the Sisters are pleased to be able to continue their ministry of service and presence in Ogden.
