This course introduces the Rule of Benedict as a guide to living a committed life which integrates Gospel values such as prayer, hospitality, community, respect for all creation and beauty. Benedictine spiritual practices such as Liturgy of the Hours, lectio divina and spiritual companioning will be introduced. We will explore the origins and essentials of Benedictine spirituality, giving special attention to how this spirituality is expressed in the lives of monastics today. Participants are encouraged to envision how the way of Benedictine spirituality can influence their lives and their vocations.
