Daily Meditation for November 30, 2023

The beautiful season of Advent begins on this coming Sunday, December 3, and lasts until December 24. Advent helps us to prepare for the celebration of the coming of Christ at Christmas. During this time, we find ourselves busy planning the holiday celebration by getting gifts ready for family and friends, entertaining guests, and perhaps making travel plans. It enhances the spirit of the season to create ways to include people who are alone, ill or needy in some way and to befriend a stranger. Many families have prayerful activities lasting all four weeks to mark the days of waiting for Christmas, such as an Advent calendar with a door to open and a message for each day, or an Advent Wreath with a prayer and a candle to light each week. Customs like these can enhance our anticipation of the deep meaning of Christmas in our spiritual lives. May the next month be a delightful one!
